A big shoutout to Elizabeth from the Skagit Marine Resources Committee (MRC) for leading the renovation and replanting of our rain garden! This morning, students from Mrs. Alumbres' class had the amazing opportunity to roll up their sleeves and plant native species, transforming the space into a beautiful rain garden.
The students have been hard at work researching the various plants, and today they became ambassadors of the garden, proudly sharing their newfound knowledge with their peers. Not only that but they’ll also be involved in designing a sign that will be placed in the garden!
A huge thank you to Toby Walls and Chris Johnson for their efforts in curb-cutting, clearing, and preparing the area for planting. This space will serve as both a water quality enhancement feature and a living-learning space for our students and community.
Stay tuned for more updates as the rain garden continues to grow and thrive!
